The USA developed the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in collaboration with BioNTech, a German company.
It was one of the first COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use.
On 2 December 2020, MHRA gave temporary regulatory approval for the Pfizer–BioNTech vaccine, becoming the first country to approve the vaccine and the first in the world to approve the use of any COVID‑19 vaccine.
