Rabia bought 4/6 kg chicken, 2/3 kg mutton and 5/12 beef from a butcher's shop. She al bought 2 packs of 4/3 kg sugar and 3 packs of 3/4 kg rice from a grocery. Find the total weight of the items she bought from both places?
Answer: 20/3 kg
Explanation
Meat:
Chicken = 4/6 = 2/3 kg
Mutton = 2/3 kg
Beef = 5/12 kg
Total meat weight = 2/3 + 2/3 + 5/12
= (8 + 8 + 5)/12
= 21/12
= 7/4 kg
Grocery:
Sugar = 2 × 4/3 = 8/3 kg
Rice = 3 × 3/4 = 9/4 kg
Total grocery weight = 8/3 + 9/4
= (32 + 27)/12
= 59/12 kg
Total weight = Meat weight + Grocery weight
= 7/4 + 59/12
= (21 + 59)/12
= 80/12
= 20/3 kg
