India signed a 10-year contract with Iran to operate the port of Chabahar.

Chabahar is a port located in Iran.

The deal was signed on 13 May 2024

India has been developing the port in Chabahar on Iran’s south-eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman as a way to transport goods to Iran, Afghanistan and central Asian countries, bypassing the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.

Explanation

South Korea, the US and Japan have launched their first trilateral multi-sectoral exercise named Freedom Edge 2024.

The exercise will be held at Jeju Island in South Korea. 

The exercise aims to increase security against threats posed by North Korea.

This exercise now will be held every year.

Jeju Island is the largest island in South Korea with an area of 1,833 square km
