There were 600 students in a school. Each offered either English or Hindi or both. If 75% offered English and 45% Hindi, How many offered both?
Answer: 120
Explanation
n(A) = 75% of 600 = 450
n(B) = 45% of 600 = 270 and n(A ∪ B) = 600
∵ n(A∩B) = n (A) + n(B) - n(A∪B) = (450 + 270 - 600) = 120
