X-linked hypophosphatemic (XLH) rickets is an X-linked dominant disorder first described by Albright in 1939

. It is the most common cause of heritable rickets, with an incidence of 1:20,000 live births.

It accounts for more than 80% of familial hypophosphatemic rickets.
