Explanation

Flowering plants are classified into two main groups:

1. Monocotyledons (Monocots) have one cotyledon. Examples: maize, rice, wheat, grasses.
2. Dicotyledons (Dicots) have two cotyledon. Examples: mango, lemon, gram, beans or pea, sunflowers.
