Algeria

Algeria is a country in North Africa with a Mediterranean coast and the interior of the Sahara Desert. Many empires have left their heritage here, including ancient Roman ruins in Tipaza by the sea. In the capital, Algiers, landmarks of the Ottoman Empire, such as the Kechaua Mosque, built in 1612, line the Kasbah district on the hillside  with  narrow streets and stairs. The Neo-Byzantine Cathedral of Notre Dame Dufflik Cathedral in the city dates back to French colonial rule.
