The First Anglo-Afghan War is also known as the Great Game.

It was fought between the British Empire and the Emirate of Afghanistan from 1839 to 1842.

It began in 1839 when British forces invaded Afghanistan to depose the ruler, Dost Mohammad, and install a puppet government.
