Explanation

Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) was elected as the first caliph of Islam at Saqifah Bani Saedah, a place in Madinah, after the death of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 632 CE.

This event is known as the "Saqifah of Bani Saedah" or "The Gathering of Bani Saedah".

Saqifah Bani Saedah was a covered platform or a roofed building where the Ansar (helpers) gathered to discuss the succession of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Muhajirun (migrants) later joined them, and after some discussion, Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) was elected as the caliph.
