Ebrahim Raisi was elected as the 8th President of Iran in the 2021 presidential election.

He secured 61.95% of the vote, defeating his main rival, Abdolnasser Hemmati, who received 8.4%.

On 19 May 2024, an Iranian helicopter crashed near the Azerbaijan border.

A total of 9 people perished.
