Explanation

There are currently 28 countries that do not recognize Israel as a sovereign state.

These countries are primarily in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, and include:

• All 22 member states of the Arab League (except for Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine, which have peace treaties with Israel)
• Iran
• Pakistan
• Bangladesh
• Malaysia
• Indonesia (although it has informal relations with Israel)
