Explanation

 The Gobi Desert is a vast, arid desert that spans parts of both Mongolia and China.

The name "Gobi" comes from the Mongolian word for "waterless place". 

 It is the sixth-largest desert in the world. 

Its area is approximately 1,295,000 square kilometres (500,000 sq mi)
