It was one of the Seven Wonders of the World

The great temple was built by Croesus, king of Lydia, about 550 bce 

The seven traditional wonders are:

3. The Lighthouse of Alexandria, located in Alexandria, Egypt
4. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is located in Bodrum, Turkey

6. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, located in Olympia, Greece
7. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are located in Hillah or Nineveh, Iraq
