Pakistan became a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN in 1993.

Pakistan signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) with ASEAN on 2 July 2004

Pakistan became the 24th member of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) the same year.

and Thailand.
