The President of the ICJ is elected by the judges of the court for a three-year term.

The ICJ's headquarters are in The Hague, Netherlands, established in 1945.

1st President: José Gustavo Guerrero (1946-1949)

2nd President: Jules Basdevant (1949-1952)

3rd President: Arnold McNair (1952-1955)
