Explanation

There are 10 main clans of the Quraish tribe:

1. Hāshim, the clan of the Prophet himself
2. Zuhra, the clan of the Prophet's mother
3. Taim, the clan of the first caliph, Abū Bakr
4. ʿAdī, the clan of the second caliph, ʿUmar I
5. Umayya, the clan of the third caliph, ʿUthmān, and his relatives, the dynasty of the Umayyad caliphs
6. Banu al-Harith
7. Banu Lu'ayy ibn Ghalib
8. Banu 'Amir
9. Banu Ka'b
10. Banu Adi
