Explanation

The Tarbela Dam is located on the River Indus about 47 km upstream from Attock.

• Located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
• Completed in 1976.
• Reservoir, Tarbela Lake, has a surface area of approximately 250 square kilometers.
• Installed capacity of 4,888 MW.
• Planned to increase to 6,418 MW after completion of the planned fifth extension.
