Explanation

• Article 257 of the 1973 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan deals with the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
• It states that when the people of Jammu and Kashmir decide to accede to Pakistan, their relationship will be determined according to the wishes of the people of that State.
