in 1998 Sharif in his first term introduced the “Enforcement of Shariat Bill” in the two houses

The Senate (upper house of parliament) adopted the "Shariat Bill" on May 28 and paved the way to impose Islamic law throughout Pakistan. 

Sharif introduced the Shariat bill in the National Assembly to make the Quran and Sunnah the supreme laws in Pakistan.
