Explanation

Tobacco was introduced to India during the reign of Jahangir (1605-1627), the fourth Mughal Emperor.

Jahangir was fond of tobacco and encouraged its cultivation and trade in India.

He even granted a monopoly on the tobacco trade to the English East India Company, which helped to establish tobacco as a major cash crop in India.
