India overtook Brazil in coronavirus infection numbers on September 7, 2020 making it second only to the United States after a record jump.

The world’s second-most populous country posted more than 90,000 cases on September 7, 2020 taking its tally past 4.2 million, more than 68,000 ahead of Brazil, which means the latter has around 4.13m of cases.

India’s death toll, however, stands at 71,642 — far behind the nearly 193,000 dead in the United States and 126,000 in Brazil.
