On 1 August 2024, Bangladesh  banned Jamaat e Islami for its alleged involvement in terrorism and violence.

Bangladesh banned the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir under anti-terrorism law following nationwide unrest.

The ban came amidst part of a nationwide crackdown following weeks of violent protests that left more than 200 people dead.
