Explanation

Annalena Baerbock has been elected as the president of 80th session of the UNGA.

She is assuming office in September 2025.

She is the former foreign Minister of Germany. 

She is first woman to hold this office.

She has also become the youngest UNGA president at the age of 44.

She is replacing Philemon Yang of Cameroon.
