The Khilafat movement started in 1919 by Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Maulana Shaukat Ali 

The Khilafat movement ended in 1924 by Mustafa Kamal Ataturk

The Khilafat movement started in India during World War 1 

For the purpose to protect the Khalafat

The Ottoman Caliphate was abolished on 3 March 1924  by decree of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The process was one of Atatürk's Reforms following the replacement of the Ottoman Empire with the Republic of Turkey.
