Explanation

The 8th Constitutional Amendment, adopted by the Pakistani Parliament in November 1985.

It introduced Article 58(2)(b), granting the President discretionary powers to dissolve the National Assembly.

This amendment allowed the President to unilaterally dissolve the assembly and elected governments.
