A rectangle has 15 cm as its length and 150 cm² as its area. Its area is increased to 1 1/3 times the original area by increasing only its length. The new perimeter is ______?
Answer: 60 cm
Explanation
Given:
Original length = 15 cm
Original area = 150 cm²
Original width = Area / Length
= 150 / 15
= 10 cm
New area = 1 1/3 times the original area
= 4/3 × 150
= 200 cm²
New length = New area / Width
= 200 / 10
= 20 cm
New perimeter = 2(Length + Width)
= 2(20 + 10)
= 2 × 30
= 60 cm
